With earth moving equipment as a backdrop, Sylvania Schools Superintendent Brad Rieger and Lourdes University President David Livingston will kick off the start of the joint project of the Northview High School / Lourdes University Athletic Complex on Monday, May 11 at 11:00 am.

A brief program will be followed by the traditional groundbreaking ceremony. Officials from Sylvania Schools, Lourdes University, the Sylvania Athletic Foundation and City and Township officials, along with coaches and players from  football, boys and girls soccer, and boys and girls lacrosse teams will take part in the ceremony.

The $ 2.6M  project will be completed in two phases; the first phase includes the installation of synthetic turf, electrical and scoreboard improvements and upgrades to be completed by August, 2015.  Bids for Phase I were accepted by the Board of Education at the April 27 board meeting.

The second phase includes the installation of a softball field on the Northview property. The Sylvania Athletic Foundation will undertake private fundraising to complete the second phase of the project for completion in 2017.

Sylvania Schools and Lourdes University signed a 10-year shared use agreement at the January 26, 2015 board meeting.
